Meet the Board

President
Jennifer Hamey
While originally hailing from Ohio, Jennifer moved to Florida in 2016 and immediately started getting involved in her local community. Jennifer has an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies, Bachelor's in Psychology, Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology and Doctorate in Law. Jennifer opened a local law firm in Ellenton and is currently serving legal needs for residents of Manatee, Hillsborough and Sarasota Counties. Jennifer brings board experience from Ohio where she served as Secretary on the Stow-Monroe Falls Chamber of Commerce Board and the Cloverleaf Marching Band Booster Board as Vice President. She currently serves as the PCA President, co-chairs the Christmas Tree Lighting and Heritage Day Festival and sits on the Rural Development Committee. Jennifer is involved with many other charity efforts outside of the PCA, including Elves for Elders, Kid's Place in Tampa, Gulfcoast Legal Aid Services and Manatee County Children Services Advisory Board. She has two adult children, a son currently serving our country in the Navy, and a daughter in Ohio who has blessed her with a beautiful grandson.

Vice President
Norma Kennedy
Norma is a true Floridan and lifelong resident of Manatee County. She moved to Parrish in 1970. After many years of employment, she retired from Verizon where she worked as a customer service representative in the business office. Norma worked not only as a customer service representative, but she was also in management as a supervisor and a service representative training instructor. Norma has been a member of the Parrish Civic Association since 2012. During that time she has also served as a Membership Chair and now currently serves as the Vice President. She also serves on the Rural Development Committee to assist with growth in the Village of Parrish and parks and recreation. Her true passion is preserving the history of Parrish and she currently serves as the President of the newly formed Parrish Historical Society, as well as serving on the Manatee Historical Board and Parrish Arts Council. Norma can be found in the PCA tent at our events with our founding fathers’ portraits and memorabilia from Parrish’s history.

Secretary
Cindy Chin
Cindy is a native Floridian, specifically Manatee County, and is a lifelong resident of Parrish. She recently retired from her long term employment with the 12th Judicial Circuit of Manatee County where she served as a Judicial Assistant. Cindy has been a member of the Parrish Civic Association for the last 35 years and has been the Parrish Heritage Day Parade Chair since 1995. The parade could not be done without her! She currently serves as the secretary for the PCA. Cindy lives with her beautiful Labrador, Ethan, as well as her horses grazing on her local farm. Cindy's family moved to Parrish in 1953 where she grew up with her sister and brothers. She loves the community where she has spent her entire life and continues to be involved with the needs of Parrish.

Treasurer
Danny Brown
Danny Brown was born in Amory, MS to a family of share croppers. He attended High School at Lamar County High School in Alabama and after graduation enlisted in the United States Navy, reaching the rank level of Lieutenant. Danny first made his way to Florida when he was accepted into Aviation Officers School located in Pensacola Florida. Danny completed 22 years of service with the Navy and retired in 1997. After completing his Naval career, Danny started KESS Environmental Services which specialized in sewer infrastructure. Danny has served as Vice President, as well as other various positions, of the Alabama Onsite Waster Water Board. He has been a Parrish resident for five years and looks forwarded to bringing his background experience to the Parrish Civic Association Board. Danny is currently serving as treasurer for the PCA!

Alan Jones
Alan has spent his life dedicating his time, energy and resources into his family owned business, Jones Potato Farm, located here in Parrish, Florida. Alan attended University of Florida and studied food resource economics. There is where he met his wife of 27 years, Leslie Jones. Alan and Leslie reside in Sarasota and have three adult children. Alan is passionate about giving back to the community and does so through financial donations, employment opportunities and serving on boards like the Parrish Civic Association where he serves as the chair of the Rural Development Committee. Alan wants to leave a positive mark on Parrish with growth in the community that provides for a small town feel, preservation of history and a place where people can walk, shop and enjoy the amenities of the area, like the Parrish Park and Downtown Parrish area.

Iris McClain
Iris has been on the board of the PCA for over 20 years. She helped organize and create the Parrish Foundation, Inc. and the Parrish Arts Council. Iris was instrumental in the organization of the Summer Youth Program beginning in 2000 and the Children’s Christmas Party. Iris has a gift of writing and has used that talent to write many articles for thee Parrish Village News over the past 22 years. Being that Iris has lived in Florida her whole like in the Manatee/Sarasota area she has amassed a large collection of articles, interviews and research of Parrish History which she has put into her published book, "This Old House." Iris worked in the banking industry for 42 years in Manatee & Sarasota counties, before retiring.

Lorraine Prosser
Lorraine has lived in Parrish for 16 years and been a resident of Florida for 34 years. She has served on the Parrish Civic Association for three years. Lorraine also previously served on the Rural Development Committee and currently sits on the Parrish Heritage Day Festival and Parade committed. Lorraine was a member of the Tampa Bay water ski team and the Sarasota Ski-a-rees for combined total of over 20 years. She has been involved since a young child with the creative arts such as dance, drawing and design. Lorraine is a Certified Building Contractor and also received her certification as a Color Design Strategist. Her creative design skills and eye for color are used to help the customers of Prosser Painting choose the perfect colors for the interior or exterior of their home. Lorraine is also a member of the Manatee - Sarasota Building Industry Association, Limitless Business Group, Professional Women in Building, Manatee Chamber of Commerce and the Color Marketing Group. Lorraine has been instrumental in securing sponsorships from businesses in the area to help with the costs of the free community events put on by the PCA.

Tami Vaughan
Tami has lived in Parrish for 20+ years and has been a member of the Parrish Civic Association for most of that time. Tami has heald positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary during that time. She has also served on many committees including the Parrish Heritage Day Festival and the Rural Development Committee. Tami now serves as the editor of the Parrish Village News and without her dedication that paper would not be possible. A Manatee County resident for almost 50 years, Tami cares deeply about this community. Tami is married to Rick Vaughan and has two grown children, Katie and Ricky. She is a member of the National Butterfly Association, Parrish Playworks, Theatre Odyssey, Acting Distant and many other organizations.

Priscilla Whisenant Trace
Priscilla was born and raised in Parrish. She graduated from the University of Florida, came back to Parrish and founded the Ellenton Nursery Growers. Priscilla served as the District 1 County Commissioner for four years. While seated as the Commissioner of this district, she was instrumental in obtaining the installation of the 675/301 stop light with FDOT, widening and sidewalk additional to 121st Avenue and finalizing the St Rd 62 and 301 revised intersection connection with FDOT and the County. She is married and has one son. Priscilla recently joined the Parrish Civic Association board.

Cheri Coryea
Cheri is the newest member to join the Parrish Civic Association board. Cheri has been a resident of Parrish for over 30 years. She recently ended a long career with Manatee County Government. The last fourteen years of her time there, she worked as County Administrator, Deputy County Administrator and the first Department Director of the Neighborhood Services Department. In March of 2021, Cheri started her own business, Coryea Consulting, LLC., focusing on strategic planning, positive leadership and management, project management and program development. Cheri and her husband raised their family, including their two girls, here in Parrish.
